“Fresh,” “Clean,” “Smell Good”...these are some of the key words advertisers will use to get you to buy their “smell fresher” vaginal hygiene products but they’re really pulling on your heart strings by hiding the ugly truth behind those appealing terms.
If you weren’t already aware, there’s no need to buy fancy products to wash your vagina because it’s basically like a self-cleaning oven;it literally does all the work in cleansing itself and getting rid of bacteria through discharge. However, it is recommended to wash the external vulva area but only by use of water or all-natural cleansers.
We all want to feel confident, especially down there but if you find that you’re feeling a little “off,” whether it be a less than desirable odor or itch, then you should not be quick to grab the first scented cleansing wash you see.
Many of the products found at your local drugstores contain sulfates, parabens & fragrances in their ingredients which can seriously mess with your vaginal pH. The vagina already has a mildly acidic environment thanks to the growth of lactobacilli (good bacteria) so if you douche or use scented soaps and washes you could potentially be destroying the good bacteria and allowing the bad bacteria to grow out of control leading to an infection and AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!
Be cautious even if brands advertise “fragrance free” products. Many companies use hidden chemicals which they aren’t even required to list on their labels (WTF?!) in order to mask the harsh chemical smell of the actual product. As sketchy as it sounds, manufacturers aren’t required to disclose every single ingredient in their product because fragrances are considered to be “trade secrets.” If a brand is using the word “fragrance” or “parfum” be wary, they could be hiding over 100 toxic chemicals used to make their “smell good, feel fresher” product.
We don’t blame you for wanting to have a vagina that smells like roses but the reality is each and every vagina has their own “normal” scent that may tend to smell a little mustier after exercise or sex which is also perfectly normal. Don’t feed into the the insecurities that advertisers so badly want to project onto you.
Knowing that chemicals can lead to infections and other potential side effects, we created a cleansing wash that is all natural, gluten-free and OB/GYN recommended!
